At the workshops, Mr. Young first discusses basic estate planning and then advanced estate planning.
- Basic estate plans are designed for what happens when you die. This part of the discussion includes how a revocable living trust works, and how to avoid probate.
- Advanced estate plans are designed for not only what happens when you die, but for “What Happens If You Don’t Die” and you become ill along the way. In this part of the discussion Mr. Young explains different ways that you can pay for various levels of your care. Medi-Cal is alive and well in California, and Mr. Young will discuss how you can get your ‘ducks in a row’ through your estate planning documents under California law, to help you qualify for Medi-Cal, which could help pay for a stay in a skilled nursing facility. In addition, he will discuss how to protect your assets from recovery by the state if you die after having been on Medi-Cal.
We will also discuss other interesting ways to help pay for your care.
