What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

This website has no comment section and no public sign-up. Nothing on it invites you to post, register or create an account.

The only information you can send us through this site is what you type into the contact form, and what you say in the chat window if you open one.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies of its own for visitors. Two services we use do, and both run on every page except the contact form and its confirmation page, where we turn the chat off so nobody is interrupted mid-inquiry.

Google Analytics tells us how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets its own cookies and receives the address of each page you look at. We have turned off the advertising features, and we ask Google to shorten your IP address so we do not receive the whole of it. We do not use it to identify you and we do not sell or share what it collects.

Our chat window is operated for us by a third party. If you open it, what you type goes to that company as well as to us, so please use the contact form or the telephone for anything you would rather keep between you and the firm.

Pages that contain an embedded video or podcast player also load it from the company that hosts it — YouTube or Spotify — and those companies may set cookies when the player loads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely. Blocking them will not stop you using this site or contacting us.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

If you contact us through this website, see “Inquiries sent through this website” at the end of this page — it says exactly what is kept and what is deleted, and when.

The only accounts on this site belong to the firm and the people who maintain it for us. There is no visitor account to hold anything in.

What rights you have over your data

If you have contacted us through this website, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You do not need an account and you do not need to give a reason. Telephone (925) 256-0298 or use the contact form and say that is what you are asking for.

There are two things we may not be able to delete. We keep enough to check for conflicts of interest, which is an obligation on the firm rather than a choice. And where we are required to keep something for legal or professional reasons, we will keep that and tell you what it is.

Asking us to delete your inquiry will not affect any advice you have already received, and contacting us does not by itself make you a client of the firm.

Where we send your data

What you send through the contact form goes to the firm, by email, through the service we use to deliver it. If another attorney is better suited to your situation we may pass your request and your contact details to them — the form asks you to agree to that before you send it, and it names it in those words.

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Data Collection

We will collect your name, email address, mailing address, and mobile phone number when you sign up for SMS updates. The information will be collected via the website contact form, email, rental agreement, or third-party reservation systems.

Data Usage

We use your data solely for sending updates, appointment notifications and reminders.

Data Security

We protect your data with secure storage measures to prevent unauthorized access.

Non-Sharing Clause

We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Walnut Creek Elder Law will not sell, rent, or share the collected mobile numbers.

Message And Data Rates May Apply

Our mobile carrier may charge fees for sending or receiving text messages, especially if you do not have an unlimited texting or data plan.

  • Messages are recurring, and message frequency varies.
  • Contact Walnut Creek Elder Law at (925) 256-0298 or (lawyoung1@gmail.com) for HELP or to STOP receiving messages.

Opt-Out

You can opt out of the SMS list at any time by texting, emailing, or replying STOP to (lawyoung1@gmail.com) or (925) 256-0298. After unsubscribing, you will receive a final SMS to confirm you have unsubscribed and we will remove your number from our list within 24 hours.

You can send HELP for additional assistance, and you will receive a text including our Phone number, email and website. We are here to help you.

Inquiries sent through this website

Inquiries are kept for 7 years. What you tell us — your message and your answers — is deleted after 2 years; your name and contact details are kept for the remainder so the firm can check for conflicts of interest. If you become a client, your file is kept for as long as the firm keeps its client files.

Nothing you send through the contact form creates an attorney–client relationship, and we do not add the addresses it collects to any mailing list. If another attorney is better suited to your situation we may pass your request and your contact details to them, and you are asked to agree to that on the form itself.
